The story centered on a 17 year old girl named Laali, who gathers courage to stand up against the atrocities of the society and who becomes an earning member of her family even though sustaining life in a male dominated society truly dictates the strength of woman power in India. Although living in a small village, Laali comes out as “hero” for her family and an example for all to follow.

Penned, created and financed by Kiran Bedi this was launched on the 16th of March 2009 and has recently celebrated its first anniversary of success and appreciation among audiences. Aired every week from Monday to Thursday at 8 pm on Zee TV, this is a great effort by its makers and the channel to help to bring awareness about one curse of life- poverty. How deep impact can money and poverty have on the life of an individual and his/her family is what the serial clearly showcases in the beginning episodes. This then evolved with Laali’s progression in life and what things she faces and yet comes out as brave and courageous to stand as someone in life who knows how to live life even though the circumstances around her are totally against her.
